Description

The New York City Department of Probation is releasing a concept paper to obtain feedback for an upcoming Request for Proposal (RFP) for intensive family and individual therapy services. The Mobile Adolescent Crisis Therapy Program aims to address the complex mental health and substance abuse needs of justice-involved youth in New York City. The program will provide accessible, community-based therapeutic services to young people aged 12-19, who are at risk of further delinquency or violating the terms of their alternative sanctions. The services will include individual and family therapy sessions, case management, and support services. The program will be delivered through a mobile, flexible model, and contractors will be expected to demonstrate manageable caseload ratios and staff supports. • The program will reduce recidivism by equipping youth with tools and resources to decrease the likelihood of future justice system involvement. • The program will address substance use by helping participants identify and reduce substance use behaviors that contribute to risk factors for delinquency. • The program will enhance family functioning by improving family dynamics through therapy and supportive communication strategies. • The program will support mental health by identifying and addressing underlying mental health concerns impacting youth behavior. • The program will promote positive behavioral change by challenging and modifying beliefs and behaviors that increase the likelihood of continued justice involvement.
