RTA 2 Dry Dock

The Regional Transit Authority of New Orleans is seeking a qualified contractor to perform a full dry‑dock refurbishment of its ferry “RTA 2”. The contract covers placement of the vessel in a dry‑dock facility, hull and superstructure cleaning, abrasive blasting, multi‑coat painting, and extensive mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and propulsion system repairs and overhauls. Additional work includes removal and replacement of valves, pumps, generators, steering hydraulics, fire‑suppression equipment, and updating of navigation and safety systems, as well as compliance with U.S. Coast Guard inspections, OSHA, and environmental regulations. • Complete dry‑dock, structural preparation, and painting of hull, decks, and superstructure per SSPC‑SP6‑85 standards. • Overhaul of main engines, reduction gears, Z‑drive, shafts, rudders, and associated hydraulic and electrical systems. • Replacement/repair of pumps, valves, fire‑main, fuel and water tanks, HVAC, lighting, batteries, and crew safety equipment. • Provision of utilities (shore power, water, waste handling) and detailed reporting/inspection documentation throughout the project.
