Monterey County is seeking a qualified general contractor to construct a new 4,200‑square‑foot, single‑story library at 13993 Sherman Blvd, East Garrison. The work includes site preparation, demolition, grading, utilities, concrete foundations, structural framing, exterior finishes (cement plaster/stucco, aluminum‑clad wood windows/doors, shallow‑sloped barrel‑tile roof), interior finishes, MEP systems, landscaping, parking, and optional EV‑charging and generator‑transfer switch alternates. Six bidders submitted bids; the lowest responsible bidder will be selected based on the total of the base bid plus any elected alternates. The contract will require a 10 % bid security, performance and payment bonds, and full insurance coverage.
• Base bid amounts range from ~$5.4 M to $6.85 M across competitors.
• Two optional alternates: manual transfer switch & generator infrastructure (≈ $50‑$190 k) and three EV‑charging stations (≈ $44‑$60 k).
