Description

The City of Springfield is seeking a chemical provider to supply odor control chemicals for its sewer collection system and Southwest Wastewater Treatment Plant. The selected provider will be responsible for providing iron salts and hydrogen peroxide to control odors at select locations. The program goals include minimizing odor complaints and controlling hydrogen sulfide levels. The city will monitor specific target levels to evaluate the effectiveness of the odor control program. • The contract will involve the addition of iron salts at the Lone Pine lift station and hydrogen peroxide at the influent junction box located at the SWTP. • The program will also include the treatment of the Wilson Creek gravity interceptor with hydrogen peroxide alone. • The city will monitor dissolved sulfide, vapor H2S, and BOD/Dissolved Phosphorous ratio to ensure the effectiveness of the odor control program.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

The estimated budget for this contract can be determined by considering the cost of odor control chemicals and the scope of the project. Given that the city's sewer collection system serves over 72,000 residential connections and 6,800 commercial/industrial connections, the cost of chemicals is likely to be substantial. A rough estimate for the annual cost of chemicals could be in the range of $200,000 to $500,000, depending on the specific requirements of the project and the prices of the chemicals.
