Notice of Intent - Tubewriter, LLC

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) intends to procure a TubeWriter 400 Direct High-Speed Alphanumeric Printing System, along with installation, training, a one-year ink subscription, and a one-year Platinum-TW400 service care from TubeWriter, LLC. This system is required for the FBI's Laboratory Division, Biometrics Analysis Section, DNA Support Unit, to print information directly on reagent and sample tubes. The TubeWriter 400 is the only known commercially available system that meets the FBI's mandatory requirements, including direct printing onto curved plastic tubes, cryogenic-resistant ink, and compatibility with multiple tube diameters. • The system must be able to print directly onto tubes without labels. • The system must have cryogenic-resistant ink that withstands liquid nitrogen, ethanol, isopropanol, and freeze-thaw cycles. • The system must be compatible with multiple tube diameters without requiring proprietary carriers or adapters. • The system must have high-resolution printing on curved surfaces suitable for barcodes and small-font text. • The system must have low-maintenance operation with no robotic handling, label rolls, or consumable adhesives.
