Description

The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) Office of Interpersonal Violence is issuing a Request for Applications (RFA) for the Mississippi Victim Assistance Program for 2026-2028. The primary goal of this program is to improve the treatment of victims of crime by providing them with assistance, support, and services necessary to aid their restoration and healing after a criminal act. The program will provide subgrants to local community-based organizations and public agencies that provide services directly to victims. The services may include crisis counseling, telephone and onsite information and referrals, criminal justice support and advocacy, shelter, therapy, and additional assistance. The total anticipated funds for subgrants under this RFA are up to $11,000,000.00 for each fiscal year. Some key points to consider: • The Period of Performance is October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2028. • A minimum of 10% of the total amount awarded will be designated for each of the following priority areas: domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and underserved crimes. • Applicants must demonstrate their ability to sustain and grow services beyond the grant period. • The application must include a detailed budget and budget justification, as well as a work plan that responds to the project description. • The applicant must certify that they are not presently debarred or suspended and that they have not been convicted of a felony criminal violation within the last 24 months. • The applicant must also certify that they have a financial management system that provides records that can identify the source and award-supported activities and provides control and accountability of project funds, property, and other assets.
