Description

The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) is seeking information from interested parties regarding their ability to provide a Micro-Electromechanical Systems (MEMS) Deformable Mirror (DM) for the AFRL/RWTSH at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. The required item will be used to support research and development of new Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) sensing capabilities for hypersonics at the KHILS Laboratory. The DM must meet specific salient characteristics, including a continuous membrane/MEMS deformable mirror type, a minimum actuator count of 137, and an aperture size of 4mm to 8mm. • The DM will introduce controllable wavefront aberrations into an infrared scene projector, replicating the effects of a sensor looking through a heated window subject to plasma and aero-optical turbulence. • The completed testbed, enabled by this DM, represents a novel capability for evaluating IR-guided hypersonic weapons. • The DM must be capable of being calibrated and driven in an open-loop fashion. • The delivery time for the required item is 14 weeks or less.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate, as the document does not provide a specific amount. However, based on the complexity and specificity of the required item, it is likely that the budget will be in the range of $500,000 to $2 million. This estimate is influenced by the fact that the required item is a highly specialized piece of equipment for hypersonics research and development, and the delivery time is relatively short at 14 weeks or less.
