Description
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is seeking a design‑build team to replace the aging Sagamore (B‑17‑005) and Route 3 (B‑17‑027) bridges over the Cape Cod Canal, along with associated roadway, rail, and utility work. The contractor will be responsible for complete design, permitting, demolition of existing structures, construction of twin tied‑arch bridges, realignment of US 6 and Route 3, installation of eight new signalized intersections and four roundabouts, utility relocations, extensive storm‑water management, and compliance with a full suite of federal and state environmental statutes. The project value is estimated at $1.6 billion, with a construction schedule of roughly 8.7 years (3,174 calendar days) after the Notice to Proceed.
