Description
The opportunity is for the construction of several retaining walls in support of the Union Pacific Railroad alignment relocation necessary for the construction of I-490 as part of the Elgin O’Hare Western Access project. The contract is currently only 60 percent complete, and the renewal is requested as non-completion of remaining work would have significant cost and schedule ramifications to the I-490 corridor. The key aspects of the job include:
• Construction of retaining walls
• Railroad alignment relocation
• Coordination with adjacent contracts
• Compliance with the Business Enterprise Program (BEP) and Veterans Business Program (VBP)
The scope of work includes the completion of the remaining 40% of the contract, which was initially awarded to Judlau Contracting, Inc. in the amount of $37,785,426.29. The renewal is requested due to the significant cost and schedule ramifications that would occur if the remaining work is not completed.
