Description

This NIH Funding Opportunity (RFA) seeks a single awardee to lead a coordinated, milestone‑driven research project that applies multimodal artificial‑intelligence methods to large, longitudinal pancreas‑and‑clinical datasets in order to uncover fundamental biology of Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and accelerate precision‑medicine approaches. The award will fund development of AI models, data‑integration pipelines, privacy‑preserving synthetic datasets, and the generation of biomarkers and therapeutic insights. No clinical trials are allowed; the work is strictly computational and data‑centric. • One U01 cooperative‑agreement award (estimated $5 M) • Focus on AI‑driven integration of multimodal human pancreas and clinical data • Deliverables include AI models, workflow tools, synthetic data sets, and biomarker candidates • Must adhere to NIH milestone schedule; project start anticipated Dec 1 2027 • Eligible applicants include a wide range of public, private, nonprofit, tribal, and foreign entities • Funding instrument: Cooperative Agreement (CA) under the Health activity category
