Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs intends to award a single‑source contract to Abbott Rapid Diagnostics Informatics, Inc. for its Remote Automated Laboratory System (RALS) point‑of‑care middleware. The middleware must integrate Abbott i‑STAT, Abbott ID‑Now, and Roche Accu‑Chek devices with the VA’s Laboratory Information System and Cerner electronic health record across the Columbus VA Ambulatory Care Center and associated community clinics. The contract includes software licensing, device‑specific modules, HL7 and ADT interfaces, 24/7 technical support, upgrades, documentation, and comprehensive security/compliance obligations under VA and federal regulations.
• Provide RALS software licenses and device‑specific interface modules for i‑STAT, ID‑Now, and Accu‑Chek instruments.
• Deliver HL7 and ADT interfaces to transmit test results into Cerner EHR and support future device expansion.
• Supply 24 × 7 technical support, preventive maintenance, upgrades at no cost, and full documentation/training.
• Comply with extensive VA data‑rights, cybersecurity (FIPS 140‑2, NIST 800‑52), privacy, and audit requirements, including a Business Associate Agreement for PHI.
