Benchtop Bioreactor System

The FDA is seeking a benchtop bioreactor system to investigate novel live biotherapeutic products generated from anaerobic fermentations from human stools. The system must be capable of sustaining and controlling high-density complex microbial cultures in a working volume of 500-1000mL. The contract includes a one-year warranty and options for up to four years of service agreements. Key features of the system include a control tower with an onboard touchscreen display, continuous process monitoring, and fully automated control of key process variables. The system must also include four fermentation vessels with sensors for continuous measurement of temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, foam, and biomass. • The system must be capable of both aerobic and anaerobic growth controlled automatically through injection of gases controlled independently for each vessel. • The system must include all necessary probes, cables, housings, couplers, and connections to measure the variables listed above. • The contractor must provide onsite installation and applications training for FDA staff at the White Oak facility. • The contractor must provide a warranty that covers all parts, labor, and service visits for at least one year. • The contractor must provide maintenance and repair activities performed by formally trained and certified Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) technicians/engineers.
