Description
The Carbon Crunch program aims to enhance the scalability of hypersonic aeroshell production by developing disruptive manufacturing technologies. The program focuses on production methods that radically accelerate the carbonization/densification step without sacrificing quality. The Proposers Day will provide information to potential proposers on the objectives of the Carbon Crunch program in advance of a planned Program Solicitation.
• The program includes a proof-of-concept Phase 1, where performers will conduct small-scale manufacturing runs.
• The successful process(es) will be scaled up to a hypersonic aeroshell design with pre-qualification steps performed to provide confidence that the process can be used on a program of record.
• The program is open to non-traditional performers, including small businesses, academic and research institutions, and first-time Government contractors.
• A list of registrant contact information will be made available to attendees to facilitate interchange among interested proposers.
