Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is conducting market research to identify potential sources of commercial products/services that satisfy the Government's anticipated needs for a mid-infrared camera. The camera should be capable of high-sensitivity and high-speed measurements across the mid-infrared spectral region. The technical requirements include a wavelength range of operation between 3 microns and 10.5 microns, a quantum sensor type, and a strained layer superlattice (SLS) sensor architecture. • The camera should have a pixel format of at least 640x512 pixels and a pixel well capacity of at least 5 million electrons. • The frame readout rate should be at least 200 frames per second, and the noise equivalent change in temperature should be 45 mK or less. • The camera should have a filter wheel with at least four filter positions and a mounting compatible with the Infrared Bayonet mount or 4x #6-32 screws on a 2.63 inch bolt hole. • Two lenses are required: a mid-wave IR lens and a long-wave IR lens, each with specific technical specifications.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

The budget for this opportunity is estimated to be between $200,000 and $500,000. This estimate is based on the technical requirements of the mid-infrared camera and lenses, which suggest a high-end scientific instrument. The price range is also influenced by the fact that the camera and lenses are custom-made for a specific application, which can increase the cost. Additionally, the document mentions that the equipment should be compatible with the Infrared Bayonet mount or 4x #6-32 screws on a 2.63 inch bolt hole, which may require specialized manufacturing, further increasing the cost.
