The Auraria Higher Education Center (AHEC) is seeking a qualified consulting firm to develop a comprehensive and detailed Campus Electrical Distribution System Comprehensive Plan. The plan will serve as a strategic framework for guiding electrical and other energy infrastructure investments, system modernization, sustainability goals, and long-term operational resilience. The selected firm will evaluate existing electrical distribution and energy systems, outline actionable pathways for increasing electrical capacity, and identify opportunities for improved energy efficiency and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. The project will involve a detailed plan for the campus electrical distribution system, including opportunities for increased capacity, operational and reliability planning, and evaluation of alternative solutions.
Key aspects of the project include:
• Review and evaluation of the existing electrical distribution system capacity
• Development of a graphic to depict geographical areas with more capacity and areas with capacity constraints
• Evaluation of the impact of the campus master build-out plan on peak electrical demand conditions
• Identification and mitigation of risks associated with the existing electrical power system
• Development of recommendations for normal operating conditions, peak operating conditions, and load-shedding and demand reduction schemes
• Evaluation of alternative energy system solutions, including renewable energy sources and advanced grid technologies
• Coordination and engagement with utilities to ensure alignment between the campus energy master plan and broader utility infrastructure, decarbonization initiatives, rate structures, and service planning
