Description

The Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program is a grant program that aims to establish and strengthen collaborations to support community coalitions working to prevent and reduce substance use among youth. The program has two goals: to establish and strengthen collaboration among communities, public and private non-profit agencies, as well as federal, state, local, and tribal governments to support community coalitions; and to reduce substance use among youth and, over time, reduce substance use among adults by addressing factors that increase the risk of substance use and promoting factors that minimize the risk of substance use. The program will fund applicants who have previously received a DFC grant but have experienced a lapse in funding or have concluded the first five-year funding cycle and are applying for a second five-year funding cycle. Some key points about the program include: • The program requires a 100% match from non-federal sources. • The program has a 10-year funding limit. • Applicants must demonstrate compliance with all statutory eligibility requirements. • The program prioritizes gold-standard science, global leadership, rebuilding trust, transparency, and credibility, rapid evidence-based responses to crises, vaccine safety and efficacy research, and advancing understanding of autism spectrum disorder, neurodevelopmental disorders, and chronic disease. • The program has specific reporting requirements, including annual performance reports, progress reports, and financial reports. • The program has a post-award monitoring process that includes routine communication, site visits, and recipient reporting.
