Description

The City of Mobile is seeking bids for the disposal of stolen and recovered catalytic converters by sale. The bid is for one lot of approximately 1000 unidentified models of converters, stored in two 40-ft shipping containers. The successful bidder will be required to provide all equipment necessary to remove the converters, police the area prior to leaving, and make payment to the City of Mobile prior to leaving. The bid will be awarded on an all-or-none basis, and the contract will be valid for one year with the possibility of extension. Key aspects of the bid include: • The bidder must be a licensed secondary recycler. • The bidder must provide a current license when submitting a bid. • The bidder will be required to determine the value of bottled converter contents on site. • Payment will be made via wire transfer from a brick-and-mortar bank prior to leaving the Mobile Police Department Facility. • The calculation of prices will be based on the current market value per individual catalytic converter.

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $200,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate, as it depends on the market value of the catalytic converters. However, based on the information provided, it appears that the city is seeking to sell the converters to a licensed secondary recycler. The value of the converters will depend on the current market price of precious metals, such as platinum, palladium, and rhodium, which are commonly found in catalytic converters. Assuming an average price of $100 per converter, the total budget for 1000 converters would be $100,000. However, this is a rough estimate and the actual budget could be higher or lower, depending on the market conditions and the price offered by the successful bidder.
