Northwest Youth Corp (NYC) American Sign Language (ASL) Program

The National Park Service intends to award a single source justified cooperative agreement to Northwest Youth Corps for the American Sign Language Program. The program aims to provide work experience to deaf and hard of hearing youth, ages 16-19, and young adults, through a five-week or eight-week program. The program will include trail work, site restoration, invasive plant removal, and other projects at Mount Rainier National Park and Olympic National Park. The recipient will be responsible for carrying out the statement of work, adhering to federal, state, and local laws, and providing support infrastructure for successful program graduates. • The program will provide an exclusive Corps opportunity for up to 20 deaf or hard of hearing youth and 8 deaf or hard of hearing young adults. • The program will include projects such as trail maintenance, site restoration, and invasive plant removal. • The recipient will be responsible for providing support infrastructure for successful program graduates, including staff positions and outreach and recruiting efforts. • The program will provide a stipend and high school credit or AmeriCorps education award to participants.
