Description

The Commonwealth’s Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (MCDHH) is establishing a rolling‑enrollment roster of pre‑qualified individuals to serve as SLPI Interviewers, Raters, and optional Coordinators. Candidates will conduct video‑recorded sign‑language interviews, rate them using the SLPI instrument, participate in consensus team meetings, and contribute to final reports. Compensation is rate‑based (e.g., $125/hr for Master Interviewer interviewing, $100/hr for rating, travel time reimbursed) with an overall budget ceiling of approximately $75,000 per year for the entire roster. Up to 30 contractors may be awarded contracts, each lasting up to 10 years, with a minimum availability of 1‑2 days per month. Applicants must demonstrate advanced ASL proficiency (SLPI rating of Advanced Plus to Superior Plus) and submit a full application package including resume, SLPI evaluation, employer support letter, and references. • Scope: Conduct & rate sign‑language interviews, attend consensus meetings, write reports; optional coordination duties. • Eligibility: Individual sole‑proprietors with high‑level ASL proficiency; small‑business eligible but not SBPP‑required. • Compensation: Hourly rates (Master $125/$100, Interviewer $100/$75, Apprentice $75/$50) plus mileage; annual max $75K for roster. • Duration: Up to 10‑year contract, rolling enrollment, no fixed submission deadline.

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $200,000

Based on the published hourly rates and the overall annual budget ceiling of $75,000 for the full roster, a single contractor who works 1–2 days per month could earn roughly $5,000–$20,000 per year. Over the maximum 10‑year contract term, total earnings could range from about $50,000 for minimal participation up to $200,000 for a high‑volume contractor. The wide range reflects variability in hours logged, rate tier (Master vs. Interviewer vs. Apprentice), and mileage reimbursements.
