Description

The State of New York is seeking qualified contractors to perform comprehensive visitor and interpretive improvements at the Salmon River Fish Hatchery in Altmar, NY. The work encompasses demolition and hazardous‑material abatement, concrete repair, installation of a full suite of interpretive exhibits, ADA‑compliant pathways and restroom upgrades, extensive electrical upgrades (panelboards, transformers, lighting controls, fire‑alarm system), HVAC and plumbing modernization, door‑hardware replacement, and associated commissioning and close‑out documentation. The project must comply with the 2025 NY State Building Code, Energy Code, and ADA standards, and includes a mandatory pre‑bid site visit. • Replace and upgrade mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including new HVAC equipment and ADA‑compliant plumbing fixtures. • Install ~120 interpretive exhibit items (murals, interactive stations, signage, lighting, multimedia displays) with required moisture‑barrier and fire‑stop treatments. • Perform asbestos and lead abatement, concrete repair, and install new resilient flooring, ceiling tiles, and interior finishes. • Provide full submittal packages, quality‑control reports, warranties, and training for the owner‑agency staff.

Budget estimate

$150,000 – $250,000

The solicitation’s project manual lists an estimated cost range of $100,000‑$250,000 for the entire scope, which includes exhibit fabrication, concrete repair, MEP upgrades, hazardous‑material abatement, and door‑hardware replacement. Considering the complexity of the electrical and HVAC work, the likely award will be toward the higher end of that range. A reasonable ball‑park estimate is $150,000 to $250,000, with the lower bound reflecting a minimal‑scope execution and the upper bound covering full‑spec implementation and contractor overhead.
