Description
The US Army Corps of Engineers intends to sole source a contract for a Presby Advanced Enviro-Septic (AES) Wastewater Treatment System. The system will treat 5,000 to 67,000 gallons per day of pre-treated wastewater influent from the Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA) facilities. The treated wastewater must meet effluent limits of 60 mg/L for BOD5 and 60 mg/L for TSS, as per Hawaii Administration Rules. Firms that believe they have an alternative to the Presby AES Wastewater Treatment system can submit a capabilities statement, which should include detailed specification sheets and a narrative explaining how their product is comparable to the Presby AES system.
• The Presby AES Wastewater Treatment System uses passive treatment methodology to reduce suspended solids and 5-day biochemical oxygen demand of the wastewater influent prior to discharge into the ground.
• The system receives pre-treated influent from an 84,000-gallon septic tank and evenly distributes it to air-vented 12-inch corrugated and perforated plastic pipes.
• The system is designed to handle peak flows and must meet the design standards of the respective county or the City and County of Honolulu.
• The system must include provisions for operation, maintenance, and inspection, as well as purging and chemical "shock loading".
