The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is seeking sources for a Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) instrument system to measure particle size, particle size distribution, zeta potential, and other properties of dispersed particles and molecules. The instrument will be used to characterize nano-sized particles in color and food additives and to support the analysis of food products that may contain engineered or incidental nanomaterials.
• The instrument must meet specific minimum salient characteristics, including measurement of particle size, zeta potential, and other properties.
• The instrument must have a solid-state laser source and a high-sensitivity avalanche photodiode (APD) detector.
• The instrument must be able to measure particles in the size range of 0.3 nm to 15 µm.
• The vendor is responsible for delivery, installation, and set-up of the instrument at the FDA Human Foods Program facility.
• The instrument must include a standard three (3)-year warranty and on-site familiarization training for up to four operators.
