The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is soliciting proposals for the re-establishment of the roadway's typical section, grade, drainage, and structural integrity across approximately 13 miles of Gyp Springs and Helt Roads in Carbon County, Montana. The project includes grading, excavation, embankment construction, crushed aggregate surfacing, erosion control, seeding, and topsoil placement. The project's overall goal is to restore safe, functional, and durable road conditions while protecting surrounding natural and cultural resources.
• The project requires a site visit to gain a better understanding of the work requirements and to satisfy themselves regarding all general and local conditions that may affect the cost of performance.
• The project includes construction of a 2-foot-wide ditch on each side of the roadway.
• Vegetation removed during ditch construction shall be bladed to the back of the construction limits and wasted onsite.
• Compaction testing of newly placed aggregate is required.
• Erosion control measures should be implemented at the few small head cuts adjacent to the roadway where disturbance could result in sediment transport.
• Seeding shall be limited to disturbed areas outside the finished top width of the roadway and other areas disturbed by construction.
