Homeland Security Cutter - Light Icebreaker

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) is seeking information on available icebreaker designs from the U.S. and allied nation maritime industrial bases. The USCG is looking for designs that meet specific parameters, including a length of 70 ft or less, a draft of 7 ft or less, and the ability to break freshwater ice with a thickness of 12 inches at a continuous speed of 3 knots. The USCG is also interested in information on the level of maturity of each design, as well as the capability and availability of domestic shipyards to support the construction and launch of an existing icebreaking-capable vessel design within 24 months of a potential contract award. • The USCG is seeking information on vendor type, vendor categorization, placemat or "one-pager" designs, design maturity, contract design considerations, and shipyard availability, capacity, and capability. • The USCG is also interested in information on execution strategy, execution experience, and U.S. partnership. • The USCG is considering alternative acquisition approaches and requirements tailoring, such as designing and building to commercial standards, and is seeking input on the potential impacts associated with these approaches.
