Description

The Pelican Bay Clam Bay Mangrove Restoration project aims to restore and enhance coastal vegetation along the Pelican Bay/Clam Bay shoreline. The project involves installing native coastal vegetation, including mangroves and associated canopy species, to improve shoreline stability, habitat quality, and long-term resilience of the coastal dune system. The project requires the installation of approximately 4,766 plants, including red mangrove, white mangrove, black mangrove, and green/silver buttonwood. The contractor must have demonstrated experience in mangrove restoration, coastal revegetation, wetland rehabilitation, or similar nature-based shoreline projects. Key aspects of the project include: * Installation of native coastal vegetation to enhance coastal habitat value and improve shoreline resilience * Furnishing and installing nursery-grown plants, including red mangrove, white mangrove, black mangrove, and green/silver buttonwood * Planting density and total quantity based on an approximate area of 305,000 square feet at an average spacing of 8 feet by 8 feet * Site preparation, including removal of debris and incompatible materials, and avoidance of disturbance to existing desirable vegetation and shoreline features * Protection of existing resources and access, including sea turtle nesting season coordination

Budget estimate

$238,300 – $476,600

The budget for this project can be estimated based on the quantity of plants to be installed and the average cost per plant. Assuming an average cost per plant of $50-$100, the total cost for 4,766 plants would be approximately $238,300 to $476,600. However, this is a rough estimate and the actual budget may vary depending on the contractor's bid and the county's budget. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the cost of plant materials, labor, equipment, and other expenses. The contractor's experience and reputation in mangrove restoration and coastal revegetation may also impact the bid price.
