Emerald Ash Borer Treatment

The City of Ames is soliciting bids from qualified contractors to treat approximately eighty-two ash trees for Emerald Ash Borer. The contract period is from May 1, 2026, to July 15, 2026. The contractor will be responsible for providing all necessary labor, supervision, tools, equipment, materials, transportation, and other components necessary for the treatment. The contractor must follow all federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and requirements. The contractor will be paid based on the cost per inch of diameter of the tree, with all labor, equipment, and materials included in the cost. • The contractor must have a Certified Arborist available to evaluate the condition of trees and ensure that treatment will be effective. • The contractor must provide appropriate safety equipment and personal protective equipment for their employees. • The contractor must follow all MUTCD traffic control and City of Ames standard traffic control forms. • The contractor must maintain proper crew strength and limit working time to forty hours per week. • The contractor must provide a report indicating the estimated canopy thinning at the time of treatment for each tree treated.
