The City of Charlottesville’s Office of Sustainability is seeking input from experts, consultants, and stakeholders on high‑quality carbon offset opportunities that could help the municipal natural‑gas utility meet the city’s carbon‑neutrality goals. This RFI is purely informational—no contract, purchase order, or payment will result. Respondents are asked to provide market insights, standards, project‑type options, pricing ranges, geographic considerations, procurement models, and co‑benefits associated with carbon offsets. Responses are limited to 15 pages (PDF) and must be submitted by 5 PM EST on 30 Oct 2026.
• Target audience: carbon‑offset market participants, consultants, NGOs, academics, and utilities with experience in voluntary carbon markets.
• Topics requested: respondent profile, quality frameworks (e.g., ICVCM Core Carbon Principles), eligible project types, price/volume ranges, geographic feasibility, procurement models, coalition buying, and community impacts.
• No commercial interest required; the City prefers respondents without a direct stake in purchasing offsets.
• Responses will be used to inform the City Council and shape future offset procurement for FY 2028 and the next 2‑3 years.
