Description

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to promote the discovery and early evaluation of strong candidate biomarkers and biomarker signatures for neurological and neuromuscular disorders. The focus is on identifying and initially biologically, analytically, and clinically evaluating biomarkers and biomarker signatures. Although animal studies can be included, the research must also include preliminary human evaluation using standardized human samples or datasets. The goal is to deliver candidate biomarkers or biomarker signatures ready for definitive analytical and clinical validation studies. Key aspects of this opportunity include: • The development of biomarkers or composite biomarkers for neurological and neuromuscular disorders • The inclusion of preliminary human evaluation using carefully standardized human samples or datasets • The goal of delivering candidate biomarkers or biomarker signatures ready for definitive analytical and clinical validation studies • The opportunity is open to various applicant types, including public and state-controlled institutions of higher education, non-profits, and small businesses • The funding instrument for this opportunity is a grant

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $5,000,000

Given the nature of the grant and the goals of the project, it's challenging to estimate the exact budget without more specific information on the funding available. However, considering that this is a research grant focused on the development of biomarkers for neurological and neuromuscular disorders, the funding could potentially range from $500,000 to $5,000,000 over the course of the project, depending on the scope, duration, and the number of awards made. Factors influencing this estimate include the complexity of the research, the number of participants, and the duration of the study.
