Repair of fume hoods

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking a contractor to repair fume hoods at the National Science Laboratory-Blakely. The laboratory is responsible for analyzing nuts and nut products for aflatoxin levels, and the fume hoods are essential for maintaining scientific support capabilities. The contractor will be required to disconnect existing electrical connections, remove existing exhaust fans and zero-pressure caps, install new PVC flex connectors, set new exhaust fans, install new PVC exhaust stacks with guy wires, complete new electrical connections to exhaust fan motors, remove and replace existing fume hood alarms, test fume hoods per OSHA requirements, and calibrate alarms. The contractor will also be required to replace fume hood lights as needed. The key aspects of the job include: • Repairing 11 fume hoods, including disconnecting and reconnecting electrical connections, removing and replacing exhaust fans and alarms, and testing and calibrating the fume hoods. • Coordinating with laboratory staff to schedule work and ensure that the laboratory can continue to operate during the repair process. • Ensuring that all work is completed within the specified period of performance (POP), which is currently 45 calendar days but may be revised to 80 calendar days. • Providing all necessary materials and equipment, including new exhaust fans, alarms, and PVC flex connectors. • Testing and calibrating the fume hoods to ensure that they are functioning properly and meeting OSHA requirements.
