Description

The United States Military Academy at West Point is seeking an instrument that can acquire real-time data from multiple modes of measurement simultaneously to yield insight about protein behavior. The instrument should be reproducible, have minimal running costs, and come with software to setup experiments and collect data. Automated experiments should collect fluorescence, absorbance, light scattering, and pH/conductivity data. Automated titrations are required, and temperature and mixing speed must be controllable. The instrument should perform experiments in phase separation, protein interactions, protein aggregation, thermal stability, ion binding, and pH stability. Key features of the instrument include: • Automated experiments with real-time data acquisition • Reproducibility to facilitate different users acquiring the same results • Minimal running costs without the use of proprietary consumables • Software to setup experiments and collect data • Automated titrations and controllable temperature and mixing speed • Ability to perform experiments in various areas such as phase separation, protein interactions, and thermal stability

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $1,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate without more information on the specific requirements and the vendor's pricing. However, considering the complexity of the instrument and the fact that it needs to be custom-made to meet the specific requirements of the United States Military Academy at West Point, the budget could be substantial. A possible range for the budget could be between $200,000 and $1,000,000, depending on the vendor's experience, the materials used, and the level of customization required. This estimate is based on the assumption that the instrument will be a sophisticated, one-of-a-kind device that requires significant research and development. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the vendor's reputation, the level of competition, and the United States Military Academy at West Point's budget for the project.
