CAT-477-DES2: Design for Rehab Catskill Aq Rondout Pressure Tunnel

The Department of Environmental Protection is seeking a consultant to provide preliminary design, design, and design services during construction for the rehabilitation of the Catskill Aqueduct Rondout Pressure Tunnel. The project includes evaluating the condition of the tunnel and associated structures, recommending and designing repairs, and providing support for construction procurement and design services during construction. The consultant will be required to perform a variety of tasks, including onsite inspections and investigations, geotechnical investigations, hydraulic and groundwater table modeling, and leak analysis and quantification. The project is expected to start in August 2026 and last for approximately 10 years. • The project requires the consultant to review previous reports and findings, perform water quality sampling and geochemical conditions, and evaluate and present repair alternatives. • The consultant will be required to determine the access needs to properly assess, design, and construct the project, and consider and provide for maintenance of community water supplies during the construction phase. • The consultant will also be required to coordinate with DEP's Bureau of Police and Security for site security upgrades and consider and provide for instrumentation to monitor flows through the RPT after completing repairs. • Other investigations needed to support design and construction of repairs to bring the RPT and associated structures into a state of good repair will also be required. • The project will require the consultant to provide construction procurement support and design services during construction, as well as closeout services.
