The North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA) Mexico grant program supports partnerships between public agencies and groups interested in protecting, improving, restoring, and managing wetland ecosystems and other habitats for wetlands-associated migratory birds and other fish and wildlife in North America. The program aims to promote sustainable and effective conservation programs for the long-term conservation of wetlands-associated migratory birds. Proposals should demonstrate how the activities of partners will encourage the long-term conservation of wetlands-associated migratory birds. The program will fund projects that include the acquisition of property containing wetlands ecosystems and associated habitats, restoration, enhancement, or management of wetlands ecosystems and associated habitats, and technical training, education, sustainable-use studies, or organizational infrastructure-building needed to develop or strengthen wetlands conservation and management capabilities.
• The program will prioritize projects that protect, restore, or enhance wetlands and associated habitats for priority species, such as waterfowl, shorebirds, and waterbirds.
• The program will also consider the geographic location of the project, including the value of wetlands, Mexico regional/local impact, and key wetlands for waterfowl, shorebirds, and waterbirds.
• Proposals should include a clear description of the project, including goals, objectives, and activities, as well as a detailed budget and timeline.
• The program will evaluate proposals based on criteria such as resource description, project location, project description, and partnerships.
