Description

The Engineering of Biomedical Systems (EBMS) program supports fundamental and transformative research in biomedical engineering. The program aims to integrate engineering and life sciences to solve biomedical problems and serve humanity in the long term. Projects may include the development of validated models of healthy and pathological tissues and organ systems, design and validation of systems that integrate living and non-living components, and advanced biomanufacturing of three-dimensional tissues and organs. The program also supports research on the application of engineering tools and principles to study the immune system and develop techniques for controlling and modulating a host's immune response. • Development of validated models of healthy and pathological tissues and organ systems • Design and validation of systems that integrate living and non-living components • Advanced biomanufacturing of three-dimensional tissues and organs • Application of engineering tools and principles to study the immune system • Development of techniques for controlling and modulating a host's immune response
