The Resuscitation and Prevention of Ischemia-Induced Dysfunction (RAPIID) program aims to develop a transformative, end-to-end resuscitation system that can be used in far-forward, austere environments. The program will focus on developing a blood analog system (BAS) comprising blood analog components, ruggedized delivery formats, point-of-care diagnostics, and clinical practice guidelines. The program is divided into four task areas: TA-1 (Blood Analog Components), TA-2 (Fielding Technologies Development), TA-3 (Regulatory Advancement & Program Infrastructure), and TA-4 (Commercialization & Sustainment). This solicitation is for proposals addressing only Phase 1 of TA-1 and/or TA-2.
Key aspects of the job include:
• Developing blood analog components, such as oxygen carriers, platelet-derived products, and dried plasma
• Creating point-of-care diagnostic devices to support transfusion decisions
• Demonstrating safety, efficacy, and shelf-stability of blood analog components
• Developing technologies to support fielding of the blood analog system
• Coordinating with other task areas to develop clinical, regulatory, and commercialization strategies
• Participating in regular meetings and providing progress reports to DARPA and the Government team
