Description

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is soliciting research projects that investigate actionable synthetic vulnerabilities that can be conditionally paired with tumor responses to radiation therapy. The goal of the Precision Approaches in Radiation Synthetic Combinations (PAIRS) program is to develop radiation-synthetic combination strategies and facilitate their adoption into the precision medicine toolkit toward building new and effective anticancer treatments. Key aspects of this opportunity include: • Investigating actionable synthetic vulnerabilities in cancer therapy • Developing radiation-synthetic combination strategies • Facilitating the adoption of these strategies into precision medicine • Supporting innovative cancer therapy strategies that exploit context-dependent effects of radiation therapy • Emphasizing precision, scientific rigor, and reproducibility in research projects

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

The budget amount for this grant is not explicitly stated in the document. However, considering the research and development nature of the project, the award amount could be substantial. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) typically provides funding for research projects in the range of $100,000 to $1 million or more per year, depending on the scope and complexity of the project. For this opportunity, a reasonable estimate could be between $200,000 and $500,000 per year, given the emphasis on innovative cancer therapy strategies and the potential for multi-year funding.
