The Auraria Higher Education Center (AHEC) is seeking a qualified consulting firm to develop a comprehensive and detailed Campus Electrical Distribution System Comprehensive Plan. The plan will serve as a strategic framework for guiding electrical and other energy infrastructure investments, system modernization, sustainability goals, and long-term operational resilience. The selected firm will be responsible for evaluating existing electrical distribution and energy systems, identifying opportunities for increased capacity, and outlining actionable pathways for implementation. The scope of work includes four tasks: Electrical Distribution System Capacity Review & Evaluation, Operational, Reliability, and Construction Planning, Evaluate Alternate Solutions, and Coordination and Engagement with Utilities.
Key aspects of the project include:
• Reviewing the existing electrical distribution system capacity and identifying areas for improvement
• Evaluating the impact of the campus master build-out plan on peak electrical demand conditions
• Developing near-term solutions to address electrical system capacity constraint issues
• Coordinating with utilities to align campus energy goals with broader utility infrastructure plans
• Identifying partnership opportunities and supporting the feasibility of advanced energy systems
The ideal candidate will have experience in creating comprehensive electrical capacity studies or plans for complex electrical distribution systems, as well as knowledge of investor-owned utility primary general electrical services, large utility-owned automatic throw-over type services, and radial feed distribution system designs or upgrades.
