The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) intends to award a firm fixed price purchase order on a sole source basis to Thomas Scientific LLC for the procurement of investigation lasers, specifically the DUAL 77 PISTOL GRIP INVESTIGATION LASER. This acquisition is being pursued on a sole source basis because only the specified brand-name item can satisfy the Government's need. The DEA laboratory system has developed an analytical method for the analysis of controlled substances and determination of positional isomers utilizing this equipment. The method utilizing this equipment will be used across the DEA laboratory system, and this brand name instrument is required to maintain standardization throughout the lab system. • The required equipment is the DUAL 77 PISTOL GRIP INVESTIGATION LASER. • The equipment will be used for the analysis of controlled substances and determination of positional isomers. • The brand name instrument is required to maintain standardization throughout the lab system. • The equipment must have multi-system compatible software and firmware, ability for multi-sample analysis, and compatibility with necessary crystal reports required for casefile documentation.
