Description
The Shelby County Government is soliciting proposals from qualified vendors to provide a tree canopy assessment for Shelby County. The assessment should include canopy coverage, plantable spaces, and relevant GIS data. The goal of this project is to understand the extent, distribution, and health of Shelby County's urban tree canopy to guide planning efforts, prioritize investments, and promote community engagement. The successful proposer will be expected to provide a comprehensive report, including a detailed description of the approach for delivering the goods and/or accomplishing the services, a time schedule for completion of each element, and itemized costs, fees, and any commissions included in the proposal.
Some key points of this project include:
• A countywide tree canopy assessment for Shelby County, TN
• Calculate the percentage of canopy coverage for the county, municipalities, and neighborhoods
• Identify priority planting areas within the County based on land use and ownership
• Prioritization of urban heat island and flood-prone areas that lack canopy cover and are considered economically disadvantaged
• Provide processed GIS data for use by the Office of Sustainability and Resilience
• Deliver a detailed and accessible report that can be shared with policymakers, stakeholders, and the public
