The Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) is conducting market research to identify qualified sources capable of providing services for an Apprenticeship Program. The program is a planned and progressive, career-related, co-operative education employment program that develops and enhances an apprentice's knowledge, skills, and abilities. The program consists of online academic instruction, trade-based instruction, and on-the-job learning. The contractor must provide formalized academic training and testing, resulting in the apprentices earning an Associate's degree and a Trade Technician Career Studies Certification in Marine Industrial Occupation. The program is anticipated to have approximately 250 students per year, with classes held between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM. The contractor must demonstrate the ability to create and adapt courses specifically for the needs of NNSY.
Some key features of the program include:
• Online academic instruction provided by an accredited Educational Institution
• Trade-based instruction from Government Personnel
• On-the-job learning with a minimum of 2000 hours
• Completion of the apprenticeship over four years, with a total of 7200 hours
• Anticipated participation in the program is currently projected at 250 students for four sessions per year
• The contractor must provide a course syllabus with Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) for each academic course
• The contractor must schedule Steering Committee meetings to be held monthly
• The contractor must provide written minutes of the Steering Committee meeting within seven days after the meeting
