Governor Morehead School for the Blind

The project consists of replacing the two chillers at the Lineberry Building with one larger chiller, updating the HVAC controls and security access controls at multiple buildings on the campus of the Governor Morehead School for the Blind. The project will also include minor electrical modifications, minor roof repairs, and other related work. The design-build project is expected to be delivered by August 2026. The total project budget is $2,300,000.00. Key considerations for selecting the design-builder include experience with similar projects, design-build experience, collaboration between team members, estimating project cost, adhering to project schedules, understanding of the project location, and availability of resources. • The project will be delivered on the campus of the Governor Morehead School for the Blind. • The project includes work at multiple campus facilities, including the Administration Building, Boiler Plant, Cathey Building, and others. • The design-builder must be properly licensed to provide construction services and design services in the State of North Carolina. • The selection committee will consider qualification information expressed by the design-builder, including firm history, ownership, description of services, location, staff size, and record of successfully completed projects. • The design-builder must provide a list of licensed contractors, licensed subcontractors, and licensed design professionals proposed for the project. • The design-builder must provide certifications, including a letter from their surety company verifying their willingness to issue sufficient payment and performance bonds for the project.
