Description
The Lakewood Board of Education is seeking a qualified law firm or individual attorney to provide comprehensive legal services focused on special‑education matters for its K‑12 district. The vendor will advise the Board, represent the district in mediations, due‑process hearings, administrative and court proceedings, prepare all necessary legal documents, and deliver timely written opinions. Services are required both on‑site and remotely, with an expectation of rapid response (verbal within 24 hours, written thereafter) and possible in‑service training for staff. The contract runs from mid‑November 2026 through the end of June 2027 and is billed on an hourly basis; no ceiling is set, and the district will reimburse approved travel and filing expenses.
• Provide legal counsel, representation, and document preparation for all special‑education issues.
• Attend Board, committee, and third‑party meetings as requested; deliver written opinions promptly.
• Bill in 1/10‑hour increments; submit monthly invoices with detailed service logs; retain records for five years.
