Description

The United States Air Force is conducting market research to identify potential sources that may possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet the requirements for qualification and production of 4mm and 6mm Video Borescopes. The borescopes are complex inspection tools used to aid in the inspection of internal components of Air Force aircraft engines. The key technical requirements include 4mm and 6mm insertion tubes at least 3m long, internal measurement software, 3D modeling, ability to limit or remove external network connectivity, and a 4-inch display. The borescope should also have a working channel on the 6mm insertion tube and be able to run from AC or DC battery for 100 minutes. The entire kit weight should not exceed 80 pounds. Some of the key features and requirements of the borescopes include: * 4mm and 6mm insertion tubes with working channels and measuring capabilities * Internal measurement software with distance, point-to-line, depth, and area measurement capabilities * 3D modeling capabilities * Ability to limit or remove external network connectivity * 4-inch display * Working channel on the 6mm insertion tube * Ability to run from AC or DC battery for 100 minutes * Entire kit weight not exceeding 80 pounds * Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) for software and hardware configuration and data protection The Air Force anticipates awarding a 5-year Indefinite Deliver Requirements Contract, with a basic year and four option years. The projected quantities are unknown, and the Air Force is looking for companies that can meet the requirements outlined in the Commercial Item Description (CID) A-A-59883A.

Budget estimate

$10,000,000 – $50,000,000

The budget for this contract is difficult to estimate, as the document does not provide a clear indication of the contract value. However, based on the complexity of the borescopes and the fact that the Air Force anticipates awarding a 5-year Indefinite Deliver Requirements Contract, it is likely that the contract value will be substantial. The estimated annual production quantities are unknown, but the contract is expected to have a basic year and four option years. The budget may be influenced by factors such as the number of borescopes produced, the cost of materials and labor, and the level of competition among bidders. A rough estimate for the contract value could be in the range of $10 million to $50 million, but this is highly speculative and should be used with caution.
