Request for Information (RFI): Lunar Surface Wi-Fi Transceiver

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is conducting market research for the procurement of a lunar surface Wi-Fi transceiver. The system should provide wireless network connectivity on the lunar surface to support astronaut operations, equipment communication, and data transfer during future moon surface operations. The Wi-Fi system must meet specific performance requirements, including Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) or newer protocol, 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz frequency bands, and a minimum operating range of 200 m. The system should also be compatible with extreme environments, including hard vacuum, radiation, and thermal extremes. • The Wi-Fi system must be designed for cubesat class dimensions and mass less than 1 kg. • The system should have a low outgassing rate and be compatible with human space flight materials. • The system must operate within a thermal range of -30°C to 50°C and survive in a range of -40°C to 60°C. • The system should be tolerant to radiation and have a technology readiness level of TRL-6 minimum.
