The National Park Service is providing a notice of intent to award a task agreement under a previously competed or single source master cooperative agreement for the project "Visualizing Sea Level Rise". The project aims to create awareness of threatened Park resources, both natural and cultural, by various levels of predicted future sea rise. The project will involve 3D laser scanning and topographic GIS models to build 3D visualizations of how flooding estimates will affect specific park resources. The project will also propose best practices for managing impacts to park units by producing highly accurate 3D visualizations.
* The project will be carried out in partnership with the University of Florida.
* The project will involve multiple graduate students who will become more proficient in 3D scanning and the overall use of this mapping tool.
* The project will provide a useful tool to guide management of Park resources during a time of increasing inundation of water.
* The project will involve multiple parks selected for study using 3D laser scanning and photogrammetry to digitally record the cultural resources and NPS infrastructure.
* The project will update park data on National Register or National Landmark-eligible properties and create new ones for both contributing and noncontributing structures and resources.
