7G--Special Notice of Intent to Sole Source Award

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is issuing a notice of intent to award a sole source contract to Lotek Wireless Inc. for the purchase of wolf collars. The collars are needed for the Selawik National Refuge to gather information on wolves in response to a new proposal to manage wolves using aerial gunning. The collars must be GPS-enabled, have video and audio capability, and be compatible with collars already purchased by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. The contract is expected to be around $28,000 for 7 collars. • The collars are needed urgently to ensure data is available for upcoming decisions. • The contract is expected to be awarded to Lotek Wireless Inc. due to their ability to meet the requirements and deliver the collars in a timely manner. • Other manufacturers, such as Vectonix, were considered but were unable to meet the requirements. • The contract is being awarded under the authority of FAR subpart 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) and (ii), which allows for sole source awards for purchases not exceeding the Simplified Acquisition Threshold.
