The Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL) is seeking information regarding the design, fabrication, and potential installation of platforms to allow personnel to safely access designated regions of the MAGIS-100 experiment. The project is located on the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) Site, adjacent to the city of Batavia, Illinois. The platforms will be installed after shaft utility modification work, and the installation scope is optional. The RFI includes questions and answers regarding the project, including the material of the shaft, the elevation tolerance in the shaft, and the crane cable envelope.
Some key points to consider include:
* The platforms will be installed in a shaft with a minimum 1'-0" thick cast-in-place concrete wall.
* The current design concept uses mechanical concrete anchors (i.e., Hilti Kwik Bolt TZ2 or similar) to attach the end plates of steel assemblies to the shaft wall.
* The yellow framework represents 8020 aluminum extrusions, and the platforms will not physically support the experiment.
* The atom source platforms may need to support the weight of the atom sources, which are approximately 2,000 lb.
* The vendor will need to provide a tolerance target based on capabilities, and the elevation tolerance in the shaft is +/- 1/2" if possible.
