Notice of Intent to Sole Source – Illumina

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a sole source contract to Illumina, Inc. for the purchase of the Illumina MiSeq i100 System. The system is required to support clinical research and the development, optimization, and validation of diagnostic assays for hepatitis viruses and other transfusion-transmitted pathogens. The system must meet specific functional and operational requirements, including high data accuracy and reproducibility, low- to moderate-throughput capability, and cost-efficient operation. The contract will be awarded without providing for full and open competition, as Illumina, Inc. is the original equipment manufacturer and is uniquely qualified to meet the NIH's requirements. • The system must support generation of high-quality sequencing data from clinical specimens. • The instrument must enable applications such as targeted sequencing, viral genome sequencing, and assay development workflows. • The system must meet specific functional and operational requirements, including high data accuracy and reproducibility, low- to moderate-throughput capability, and cost-efficient operation. • The contract will be awarded for a base year from June 1, 2026, to May 31, 2027.
