FAME Cartridges

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Base Support Branch (AFLCMC/PZIBB) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), OH intends to award a sole source contract to Lazar Scientific, Inc. for the purchase of FAME cartridges and verification fluids. The contract will be a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) Commercial Purchase Order and carried out as a sole source action. The Aerospace Fuels Laboratory at the Air Force Petroleum Office (AFPET) uses the FIJI FAME Instrument, Model SA5000-2 to determine Fatty Acid Methyl Esters (FAME) content in Aviation Turbine Fuel. Each test requires the use of one cartridge and one filter, which are packaged and sold together in quantities of 100. Additionally, testing requires the use of verification fluids. The FIJI FAME instrument, its parts, and consumables are exclusively sold by the US distributor Lazar Scientific in the United States. • The contract includes the purchase of 12 packs of FIJI Cartridge (100), 5 bottles of FIJI Verification Fluid, 30ppm, 100ml, and 5 bottles of FIJI Verification Fluid, 100ppm, 100ml. • The contract has a base year with two option years. • The estimated contract cost, including options, is $157,496.51. • The contract is a sole source action due to the exclusivity of the FIJI FAME instrument and its consumables.
