Description
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is conducting market research for the procurement of a lunar surface instrument avionics unit for future astronaut missions related to Artemis. The avionics unit will host GSFC software and be integrated with other hardware for a competitively selected instrument that astronauts will employ during future extra-vehicular moon surface operations.
The key requirements for the avionics unit include:
• Data processing capabilities with a minimum of 32GBytes of data storage and a processor with >100 MIPS Dhrystone and >20 Whetstone MIPS
• Electrical interfaces with primary power input voltage of 20V – 33.6V and various power outputs
• Wi-Fi communication interface with Wi-Fi Certified N™ in 2.4 GHz band and Wi-Fi Certified AC™ in 5 GHz band
• Physical constraints with a cubeSat 1U form factor and a mass of less than 3.0 kg
• Environmental requirements with operating temperatures between -30°C to 50°C and survival temperatures between -40°C to 60°C
• Radiation resistance with a Total Ionizing Dose (TID) design threshold of 10 krad(Si) and Single Event Effects (SEE) latch-up immune to a Linear Energy Transfer (LET) of >75 MeV*cm^2/mg
