The Department of Veterans Affairs is announcing the availability of funds under the Grants for Transportation of Veterans in Highly Rural Areas program. The program aims to help address barriers to access to care for veterans in highly rural areas by funding innovative approaches to transporting them to VA Medical Centers. The grants will be awarded to current grantees to enable them to continue providing transportation services to veterans in highly rural areas. The application package must include a detailed narrative of the program scope, a budget detail worksheet, and a budget narrative. The grants will be awarded for a one-year period, and the award amount will not exceed $50,000 per highly rural area.
• The program is open to current 2018 grantees only.
• The application package must be submitted through www.grants.gov by the application deadline.
• The grants will be awarded based on the success of the grantee's program, the cost effectiveness of the program, and the extent to which the program complies with the grant agreement and applicable laws and regulations.
• The grantees will be required to provide quarterly, annual, and final reports on the use of grant funds and the progress of the program.
• The grantees will be required to cooperate with any VA evaluation of the program.
